Euro 2020: Group F

It’s almost time for the start. An we’re at the last group review. And what a group it is. Group F is “Group of death”. And it is easy to see why.

Group F: France, Germany, Portugal, Hungary

France

Without a doubt the world champion France is the big favourite for the European crown. The team is full of superstars. They have probably the best young player in the face of Kylian Mbappe. France’s team is world class in every position. Literally there is no a single position in the squad that you can say is not world class. The biggest problem of this team is how to choose only 11 players to start. The midfield duo of Kante and Pogba look impossible to play against. Mbappe, Griezman and Benzema are a trio that can score from every position, against every opposition. Everything but a title will be considered failure. But this team can rule football for many years. They absolutely have the potential to follow the footsteps of domination of the Spain team 2008-2012.

Germany

Germany failed to progress through the group stages. This means that this Germany team is hurt, and when they’re hurt they cannot be underestimated. The Bundesteam will be hungry for redemption. The duo of Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller were ousted of the team after the World cup in 2018. Now in order to progress further and try to win the European cup, they are back in the team. Without big superstars, but will the typical German teamwork, this team will give it all on the pitch so that Low can have a proper

sending off.

Portugal

The current European champions got in the worst group possible. But led by one of the best footballers of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo they are ready to defend their crown. Portugal already showed that they can play even without their biggest star. They showed this at the final in France in 2016 when Ronaldo left the pitch injured. This season Portuguese attackers all across the continent score goals for fun. Andre Silva, Diogo Jota, scored double digits goals for their teams. At the back they have the PFA player of the season Ruben Dias, alongside him the experienced Pepe and Jose Fonte. Generally Portugal are the perfect mix of experience and young talents. They all know how to win, and how good it feels. Will definitely try to win it again.

Hungary

Hungary qualified through the play-off after winning their group in the Nations league. They beat Bulgaria in October 2020. The team’s two biggest stars are RB Leipzig’s Peter Gulasci and Willi Orban. It’s not much but the Magyars already proved that they can hurt any team that don’t take them seriously. It will be interesting to see if they can confuse someone’s accounts.
