We’re almost at the end with two groups left to look at. Now let’s see what Group E has to offer:
Group E: Poland, Spain, Slovakia, Sweden
Poland
This is Poland’s third Euro and also their third consecutive showing. The team has been on a rise in recent years as they produce more and more players that perform on the highest level. The biggest star of the team, of course, is Robert Lewandowski. The Bayern Munich striker is also country’s most capped player (118) and number one goal-scorer (66). But the Polish team is not a one-man team. Juventus, Napoli, Leeds, Southampton are just some of the teams where Polish players shine. Led by the Portuguese legendary midfielder, Paulo Sousa, #Orly are determined to beat their best ever Euro finish, which is the quarter-finals at Euro 2016 in France.
Spain
Spain’s team needs no introduction. The most successful national team in the 21st century and the only team to win two Euros in a row. Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Villarreal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, etc. the list of the teams where Spanish players play is unbelievable. #LaFuriaRoja is the perfect mix of young exciting players and world class experienced players. They’ll be missing their most capped player: Sergio Ramos and the team was hit by an unexpected blow days before the competition beginning: Sergio Busquets was diagnosed with COVID and has to self-isolate for 14 days. Busquets was named captain before the tournament so they’ll have to find new captain, and new midfield maestro. His lack of presence will definitely be felt in Spain’s team, but they have more than enough quality to replace him. They should easily win this group. Definitely one of the big favorites for the crown.
Slovakia
This is Slovakia’s second Euro and also their second in a row. Slovakia qualified after a dramatic play-off victory against Republic of Ireland and they will try to make their presence felt in this group. You can see the likes of Milan Skriniar and Marek Hamsik in the team who are well known across Europe. The #Sokoli are not likely to progress out of the group but won’t give up that easy.
Sweden
It’s very sad when you look at the Swedish team and don’t see the name of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Big Swede is one of the most notable missing names of the tournament. He announced his retirement from the national team after Euro 2016 and decided to come back to the team for this summer’s Euro, but unfortunately, got injured and will miss it. Breaking news is that Juventus winger, Dejan Kulusevski, got COVID and will be isolating for 14 days. This means he’ll miss Sweden’s opener against Spain. Even without them #TheThreeCrowns have enough quality to fight for the 2nd spot in the group with Poland. But progressing past the Round of 16 will be a big if…
