After last night Bayern Munich simultaneously won, drew and lost it’s official: We’re gonna have a new European champ. Bayern are the next club to not be able to defend it’s crown in the Champions league. The honor that is still only for Real Madrid. After the unprecedented run of 19 games without a loss, 18 wins in that run, they were stopped by the team they defeated in Lisbon to win their №6.

Bayern Munich 2-3 PSG

The first game in Munich was absolute classics. Both teams were at their best. Bayern were able to come back from 0-2 before Mbappe put the end in this bout in the 68th minute. Game full of emotions, attacks, goals and everything that we love this game for. And it was clear that the Bavarians were missing their main man: Robert Lewandowski. They made so many chances, but just the finishing wasn’t good enough which costed them the spot in the semis after the return game. Bayern fans were hoping that the Polish striker will win the race with the time and will be fit for the game in Paris. Unfortunately this didn’t happen. And they were about to miss him in Paris too…

PSG 0-1 Bayern Munich

It looks like the sacking of Thomas Tuchel in December was a great move for both sides. Tuchel is doing great job with Chelsea, being contender for top 4 spot and having qualified the Londoners to the semis. And PSG got Mauricio Pochetino. I’m gonna admit that I’m a big fan of Poch when he was in Southampton and Tottenham. And now he made the next step, coaching a good team, full of world class players. His tactical ability looks like one of the world’s best. And last night’s game was a prove of this. PSG outplayed Bayern and only the low conversation rate of Neymar in particular and Neuer’s heroics gave Bayern hope for going through. The game was full of emotions and drama, although the result is not showing that. The rivalry of PSG and Bayern Munich might become a modern day classic. Two full of young talents teams, fighting for the European cup every year. It’s on!

Worth mentioning:

If Kylian Mbappe can stay safe of serious injuries he’s going to be “The next big thing” of football. He has the potential to rule this game for a long time. And maybe the young French gun will better some of Messi's and Ronaldo's records.

Chouppo-Moting has the best agent in the world of football. From Hamburger CV to Bayern Munich, through Mainz 05, Schalke 04, Stoke City and PSG. Every transfer he’s ever made is on a free. From getting relegated with Stoke to the top of European football… Wow!

David Alaba will be the hottest free agent this summer. Because of his high salary demands Bayern won’t renew his contract so he’s free to look for a new club. After playing as a defensive midfielder yesterday, and doing it pretty good he made a point why he wants the money he wants. He’s player as left-back, left-wing, center defender and now defensive midfielder. This guy is class at every position he’s put in.

Chelsea 2-1 Porto on aggregate

And while PSG and Bayern were taking everything out of each other for that semi-final spot Chelsea booked their spot without many problems. We saw another ridiculous decision by UEFA. Chelsea and Porto played twice at “Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan” in Sevilla with the away rule in effect. We already saw this a couple of times with Liverpool and Leipzig doing it, just as Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach. Luckily in none of the game we saw the controversy of team going through because of scoring “away” goal. With all due respect to Porto and Chelsea I don’t think many fans except their own watched this game. But Chelsea did the job and I can say quietly booked a spot in the final 4 of the Champions league. With the way they play no one should write them off as a Champions league winner contender.

Culmination time in the European tournaments!
